Admittedly, if you weren't on the ground floor when RED started out, you might not feel the same sense of accomplishment and excitement with each new level of success.
But comparing RED's incredibly hard work over the past several years, their dedication, and passion in creating a revolutionary product which has changed the entire film and stills industry to a 16 year old with his first girlfriend is just plain silly.
...oh, and I bet back in 1917, The ARRI Group was just as excited.
Sasha Grey on Entourage
In some ways, RED was the camera a lot of people wanted to hate, for a number of reasons but I suppose the #1 reason being the hype surrounding it. Some of that still lingers, although I have to say a lot of people have come around to recognizing it as a very viable tool. Even now, there are still myths or old problems that get floated around. Sometimes you have to dispel these myths, but I'm finding as time goes on, a lot more people have worked with it and as long as it was used in a professional manner the experiences are usually good. I've been on a lot of national commercials and I hear less and less chatter about the RED. It's more about the content and how we're going to achieve it, which is the way it should be. That's how I know RED has come a long way. And now that they have a track record, I think the next gen cameras will be more about how they can improve current ways of shooting and less about all the other stuff.
I don't mind Dino posting projects he's working on. For one, it offers an opportunity to ask him some questions if I see something that was done that I'm curious about. Perhaps it's a look, or maybe a workflow related thing. There's some benefit there. I don't think he solely comes on here to post his resume.
Dino... Very much on point!!
I hope you have time for a Margarita at the Baha Cantina in between projects...it's one of may favorite WB haunts!
