Does this count as the Mid May Scarlet update?
Another question, is the autofocus on the fixed scarlet using motors inside the lens? I assume that that is the case but we have never really discussed the design of the fixed lens. I assume that zooming is manual correct?
the touch is part of it yes.. as well as face tracking.
These algorithms are pretty hardcore.. The same algorithms used on the EPIC to control autofocus on the RED FF35 lenses ( and canon and nikon electronic lenses ) have trickled down to Scarlet.
And yes the motors are in the lens, both autofocus, iris and zoom. That 8x lens all by itself is a technical achievement all by itself. And remember this is a cinema lens.. with custom actuators and lens group movements designed for both motion and still.
