The 2/3rds is a bit thinner than the Epic, but longer . The 2/3" sensor is alot smaller than the S35 sensor, but remember there is a lens that needs to fit in the brain as well :)

Scarlet 8x is first to be brought up in the lab. It is still in engineering form, not "run around and take pictures form". Think of a mini-Franky. There is alot of effort is going into the autofocus algorithms and lens optimization, and alot of waiting for bits of code to come down from it's big brother...

The images coming off of it are incredible.. remember, the 2/3rds sensor is part of the Mysterium-X family, and you all know what that looks like.

10 What is the biggest change to Scarlet since the last announcement that makes you excited?

The autofocus is actually the most impressive work going on right now... Nobody has seen autofocus on a video camera work like this before, and it is pretty impressive to actually see it work.
Jarred, I want to make sure that I understand what is being said as opposed to what I hope you are saying.

I do only documentaries, sort of half pseudo-ENG and half minimal EFP. I know autofocus is not used in cinema work, and I avoid it when I can but in my line of work autofocus can mean getting the shot or not. Jarred, are you saying the the 8x Fixed will be suitable for pseudo-ENG and EFP work?
If so, I will wait and wait.

I plea to you is that you make some way to fix threaded miniplugs to XLR adapters to the body so that in quick moving situation I am not putting too much stress on the body. Please, guys there are simply some situation where I cannot use a dual sound system so durability of my audio plugs is paramount.

I do not think that the full potential of RAW footage for documentary work is fully appreciated since news organizations do not have the time to convert RAW. I am hoping that it will let me shoot what is happening and make WB adjustments, etc, as dictated by the subjects movements through different lights. That will totally change what I can do, and I feel, based once again on my hopes, that it will revolutionize documentaries.

Any chance we could see a pic of the prototype?
(On a side note my first scarlet is now going to be named "Mini-Franky".)

Looking awesome! Do you have a measurement from tip of fixed lens to the back of the camera?

It's crazy to think what a powerful tool those little cubes are. Can't wait to get my hands on one.

    Thanks for the update

Hey Jarred - Thanks so much for staying up late and giving us some great tidbits. I am still a little unclear about the weight issue. I want to believe that your answer to Joseph's question should be taken at face value; i.e. the fixed Scarlet brain weighs in at about 4.5 pounds - complete with lens. Is that true? It does seem too good to be true based on Epic's weight but, if it is, I am totally jazzed. I just want to silence my inner skeptic. Thanks again.
