As a some day Scarlet owner who fiercely defends the full blown proness of 3k raw at up to 120 fps, I think Epic is a HUGE step up and worth more than every penny. If Scarlet cost what Epic costs, it would be a great deal. For what epic does, I cannot even extrapolate a cost, because there is nothing close. The way over 100k for HD cameras that still don't shoot raw or high speed, or the way way expensive high speed options like Phantomgive way points, but Scarlet is a big step ahead of the norm, Epic doesn't even know what normal IS.
So you rock.

I havent recently seen under scarlet, but I bet there are a slew of attach points just under the front, and if not, there are those top ones. AND, mine will be on a rail system, so I will probably just attach there. AND you could always put a nice plate / cheese plate between the camera and tripod plate, giving a real steady, sleek set of attachments poking out just underneath the jacks in question.
just some ideas I was thinking of.

I also agree. If it had a couple (or even 4? I forget how many channels it's spec'd to record) xlrs, a levels knob for each one, and metering, it'd be a great purchase. Ooo, and if there was a way to do it wirelessly (Zaxcom makes wireless recorders that are immune to RF interference and intermodulation), where the sound guy had the mic plugged into the i/o module, but the camera was the one doing the recording, that'd be pretty sweet! Single-system convenience with dual-system quality!
Great question about the headphone jack!
(For the record, people at Red, I think it's pretty much understood here that even with no onboard audio, the camera's a hell of a bargain. And if it's not, said non-understandy people are definitely crazy.)
I don't know exactly how this locking mechanism works, but Sony has a locking mini-plug which they use in their wireless microphone systems. (Link: http://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/product-EC15BX/ )
