3G sounds like the better choice. It is always there if you need it. You don't have to use it.which iPad would be better, the Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi + 3G?

everybody is thinking too small. we need to have full multicam support on this bad boy.

Keep in mind the 3G iPad also has WiFi. Here in San Diego 3G coverage is great. Going up the 405 in the OC it is pretty bad though. Really depends on where you are. 3G is definitely slower then WiFi but being able to get online anywhere makes it indispensable for me.
Ketch,
I was on the fence too. Was originally planning on getting the WiFi version, then held out for 3G availability.
The wait was well worth it!
Already I have been on location numerous times where a WiFi spot was either unavailable or required a log in / passwords - all of that avoided by having the 3G compatibility. The markup in price has already paid for itself in convenience.
Another advantage of the 3G is the GPS capability it brings to the iPad - (although I have not yet used that feature).
So far, I have had a very good experience with the unit. Many apps that I use on location such as Helios are much more readable than on the iTouch. pCAM will need an upgrade to sharpen the image - but it works fine.
I'm assuming that any iPod/iPad/iPhone app will use the camera's wifi connection for a direct connection, rather than the phone company's network. If not, the lag in response times is going to make the thing useless. Not to mention the abysmal reliability of the ATT network. If we have ti reeky on that, the app would be worse than useless.
