I'm holding onto my NAB 2011 prediction in mass quantity, after all backorders are cleared out... Nobody's happy about the slipping Scarlet release dates, especially RED, but they have a helluva product in EPIC and after all, we all benefit from it's successful launch...

Any Scarlet shipping before then is just a pleasant surprise and should be viewed as a great technology advancement for the price...

And I'm certain Red is aware of the competition promising BIGGER sensors by then for similar pricepoints, though with lower frame rates, crappy codecs and consumer bitrates to PRESERVE their High End product margins... It will be interesting, and Graemme will be busy chap late this and early next year as the comparisons roll in...

Since Jim need a month off I don't espect to see any info update in a while. As much as I would like to get an update on the Scarlet, I really hope he take the time off to get well. If we do get Scarlet info soon it wouldnt make me sad thoe=)

About the deadlines. The vision of the epic and scarlet have changed and gotten bigger with much more features. It would not be realistic if the production would not take more time. Most on this forum know "the drill" that anything can change and also the deliverydates. Im a "self torture" so I check the forum almost everyday to se if theres any updates and to learn more about the camera.

I don't feel like red "cheated" me just beacuse its not out yet. Quiet the opposite Im very happy with the things they working on to pull off.

Any mattebox for the scarlet yet that i have missed?

    Agreed!

Any Idea which lenses would be compatible with the T2i and the (Scarlet) Red cameras within $1000 to $1500 range.
good to have ones such as wide lens,...

7D and T2i share the same sensor, so the lenses are the same. I would stick with EF mount lenses from Canon, Zeiss, or Sigma. (Full Frame Lenses will be good for future cameras). Others can chime in if I am missing something.

    Good luck shooting!

No problem. Also, are you spending $1000-1500 overall or per lens? Secondly, remember when making your lens choices that both the 7D and T2i/550D have a Canon APS-C sized sensor that will give you a 1.6x Crop/Magnification factor, so going wide will be slightly more difficult.
    e.g.
An EF lens such as the 16-35mm f/2.8L would have a FOV equal to ~26-56mm on the 7D & T2i/550D.
Just keep that in mind when you are shopping for lenses.
Lastly, don't be afraid to rent lenses to try them out and determine which you like that way you don't have to buy something and be disappointed with it. :)

For my T2i I bought a 17-70 Sigma (I believe its aps-c only, but thats ok for 2/3 scarlet) as well as a canon 50mm 1.8, and maybe a basic zoom. While these will work on a scarlet with canon mount, though, I don't trust the canon mount to release anywhere NEAR the launch date of the 2/3 interchangable.... and MUCH after the 2/3 fixed... which is distant too... so I plan to buy a fixed. That said, I am keeping the off chance I get a scarlet or epic someday and go with a canon mount.

that was not clear at all! sorry.

The T2i was tempting to me too. But $800 is a decent used matte box for Scarlet or cleaning collimation and mount conversion for one of my 16mm zooms. Opted to wait because I am more interested in a truly capable field package for Scarlet, with enough batteries and media to cover at least 6 hours of continuous shooting.

Bless him, I doubt Jim's absence will hold things up much. Jarred and team are certainly capable of running just fine on their own.

Tomorrow is Ides of May. Can we at least get an update on the update?
