I think the lack of a mid-may announcement really hurt my confidence in Red as a company. The scarlet saga has gone on for quite a long time, and the extreme delays never helped boost the image of Red as a company.
I like, everyone here, am very excited for the Scarlet. However, there are some concerns I have in investing as much money as it requires to purchase a product into this company. I think the way they have handled the Scarlet camera represents certain unreliable qualities of the company.
A friend of mine owns a Red One. He makes money off of it, and wants to continue to make money off of it. He did not purchase an EVF when he purchased the camera but now has the money and desire to do so. However, he cannot purchase the old viewfinder from red and the new one is not available. When asked when it would be available they told him they don't know, but not for a few months. This lack of information and reliable updates on products discourages me from investing 10K or 17K or 28K into a company. It also makes people like my friend feel somewhat taken.
I think Red needs to start acting a little bit more professional in regards to its products. For someone like me, and probably most people reading this forum, the scarlet is a camera that we are all looking forward to. 10 Questions is not an update, nor does it make the company seem more reliable. Don't announce anymore deadlines you can't meet.
