I bow my head to the camera crew that is able to get good results from a Canon 5D or 7D. I guess shooting with a Scarlet or Red1 would actually be easier.

About the update: I'm not that pissed that it is not really "mid"-May but I would find it decent if Jarred (now that Jim is incapacitated for a while) had just put up a note in RECON saying that it will be 1-2 weeks or whatever late. I know he posted something similar in this thread but I'm a bit tired of having to search through these forums all the time as I AM actually shooting while waiting for scarlet. My humble opinion.

But then you wouldn't come here every 2 hours to check for an update. Which would reduce the hit count for the site. Which would reduce ad revenue and hype. So why would they do that exactly?
My @#@$ is bigger than your @$%@ because I can afford all this equipment:

bla bla bla #666 - "Buchenwald"
    bla bla bla 55mm - 950mm, moded.
bla bla, bla bla, and bla bla bla.

    you guys are too funny...

Felix.. I like your question list from november, good job... I'm putting you in charge of making a new list of 10 questions, and ill post the answers the best I can. A tip... Avoid questions with the word "when" in them because I will just answer with a " when it's done" :)

Hopefully that will be a bit of relief for you guys that are patiently waiting..

There is one thing I can tell you is still on track... Our relentless pursuit on mastering the art of successfully missing every single date we ever announce... that seems to be well on schedule.

    TGIF.
Time for a cold one and straight talk.
Scarlet will get here when it gets here.
    But it will get here.
55 years have given me the ability to develop some effective BS filters, at least I like to think so.
    Scarlet is no BS.
    And it's worth waiting for.

As a still photographer, it's like shooting RAW vs. medium to low res JPEG.
No comparison in real world uncontrolled situations.

As far as lenses and what I expect from the Fixed, it will be like shooting with a consumer 18-200 (I shoot Nikon) vs shooting with a $4-10,000 assortment of primes. Yes, compared to PRIMES - better than gold-stripe or L-zooms because of the angles of view at the wide end that don't exist in the SLR arsenal at the needed apertures, and for many other reasons: since the Fixed zoom is a cinema lens I expect absence of focus breathing; stable focus while zooming; incredible edge to edge sharpness wide open; beautiful boke; and excellent CA control.

What else sells or will sell for the same price for the Fixed? 'nuff said for me.

And for those who want the Cinema, why would Cinema be released much later?
No reason except to sell mini-primes. The body is actually simpler.
So are the mini primes ready for production?
Is the fixed zoom in production?
Who knows - I certainly hope so.

5D MkII, Panny 4/3rds, Sony NEX-x, Panny AF-x00 are not in the same league. Interesting, but to me they are DOF toys (as far as video goes). I need a real video camera. Rugged, weatherproof (I hope), and with videocamera ergonomics.

The stories I want to tell, on the budget I have, the places I need to go to capture my stories, and the quality I want in order to make the stories more compelling, require a camera like Scarlet Fixed.

I can wait. And when the time comes, I hope I feel good about selling a lot of my Nikon gear (and maybe even Zeiss glass) - cuz funding is hard to come by these days.

I have no choice in the matter because this is the age of VIDEO storytelling. However, having a video camera capable of taking stills that should be good up to 11x17 (or larger - depending) is a VERY nice consolation.

Take it easy, Jim. (Not that I know you, but Mr. Jannard doesn't seem to fit).

And thanks for your vision and efforts.

You don't HAVE to do this in an economic sense, but as an artist and someone with vision, knowledge, resources, passion and a CONSCIENCE, you DO HAVE to do this. Rich man's hobby??- I don't think so.

    Thanks again.

My POV doc will have RED SCARLET in the credits.

    Let's get ready to rumble.

I have a question, are production level (or near production level) Scarlets functioning?
    Can that be #1?
Nothing clever or informative here... move along.

And Felix, try and avoid yes/no questions. It would be sad to end up with a list of answers from Jarred that reads, yes, yes, no, no, yes... etc. You get what I mean!! Go for it!!
