    Great news from Avid.

Now you can directly access and edit RED files through AMA, without transcoding (images are scaled to HD frame size). Work directly with RED using the newly improved AMA. With Media Composer 5, AMA (Avid Media Access) has been completely reengineered, so you can work natively with more file-based media formats now and in the future. With the new and improved AMA, you can speed up RED workflows by directly accessing RED files (.R3D) in Media Composer without having to prepare them through MetaFuze (all footage is scaled to HD frame size). Plus, you have access to its full metadata and color management data too.

Like I mentioned in Mark's thread, this is great that Avid is listening to what we want!

Yes on new color science and support for RMD files. It will also support ROCKET card if in the system and will kick in automatically if debayer is set to FULL for all transcodes and renders. Source settings are available on a per clip basis or to a selection of clips. Apply RLX, RSX, or RMD to one or all. All farther modifications to parameters in window are tracked in Avid bin on a per clip basic including RSX, RSX and RMD filename used. Histogram allows for solo RGB channels, zoom, and guides for SMPTE black and white levels. Apply button updates clip in monitor for proper viewing on an attached client monitor, etc.

What debayer will it use natively without the rocket?

ok, rocket is for transcodes and renders, but NOT for realtime playback?
    is multistream possible?

For real time performance, it will always use whatever debayer is just above 1920 x 1080. Then you can go to yellow/yellow mode in timeline for more performance. Aspect ratio is scaled to 1920 x 1080 and defaulted to letterbox. You will have control as a batch process to change aspect ratio via a new "format" menu on a per clip basis as needed.
