Please, PLEASE be a ProRes module so my 3 Epics can compete for the ProRes (mostly Alexa) jobs!

I know and LOVE 4 & 5k! I get it! but not every job needs or wants it, some want it now and ProRes, and we have all we here at Red User have done this arguement 100 time before... I just could really use a ProRes module as another option to make my Epic even more kick ass! I would call it a "ProRed" module ;)

Alexa gives the choice of ProRes or Raw (with hardware...) give the Epic the same power! just, better and smaller :)

Come on Jim and Jarred make it happen for us :)

    Prost,

a prores module is (almost) what the sounddevices pix 240 is. Maybe not in the red form factor but it does what you need it to do. Once we get full 16x9 out of the sdi port, it will be a complete solution. I tested it out on two jobs last week and it was rock solid.

It's great, but the 16x9 output is a problem now and slow-motion is a problem. And it's need power, camera gets bigger, etc. A module the size of the quad power module with inside a prores recorder, with full metadata support en full slow-motion support would really be a godsend and is different than an external recorder... and as robert says it would kill all the producers excuses to use a alexa or c300, Red would be absolute be a killer complete camera then, the-every-option-you-want-camera :)

And – as you may expect from that company – the sound section is excellent. Just measured it in Berlin with one of our best sound engineers, Arno Wilms (The Lives of Others).

This will be beneficial for on set viewing, instant dailies, offline editing, easy file transfer to remote locations, dailies review and collaboration services with such companies as Pix, or live broadcasting for realtime media distribution.

The modules will also support full metadata and XML for editorial.

Guys, get a pc with red rocket, make presets in redcine and render the stuff out the way you need it - nearly as fast as making back-ups (witch you do at the same time while transcoding to prores). All the benefits of raw and in praxis not really a time killer. If you are shooting news and need to hand over the original disk after the gig, then get an Alexa.
