That's great, true lossless. Will we get this goodie on the 2/3"models?

Lossless compression is truly EPIC. Some VFX guys I work with find the wavelet artifacts sometimes troublesome. This solves that forever.
    Awesome!

Doubtful. I think Red will have more than just higher frame rates to set the Epic apart.

i'm guessing its part of the reason why the epic's cost is spectulativly so much more than a scarlet, but ofcourse that would just be another speculation;-)

Could someone describe what a wavelet artifact looks like?

    Is it like artificial smoothing?

Impressive- the MX is so amazing. I can't wait to see what the Epic bodies look like at NAB- very exciting times. :)

For those that missed my post on another thread... EPIC has a REDCODE mathematically lossless compression option (2.5:1) that records to onboard SSD module (not to CF).
Excellent results! I'm looking forward to all the RED news from RED Day or sooner!

I don't know when to be more excited about. But today we have been shooting hand held so for safety we're using 16gb CF's...i've been reloading all day. The SSD sure sound good right now.
