Recently I got some offers from several local resellers for setting up a system that we could grade on. I told them we're working with RED, in 25p, finishing for 2k, HD and SD and would like to get the accurate-as-possible 10bit picture on Panasonic 12 series plasma screen from FCP, Color and After Effects. So, long story short I got 3 options back: Kona 3, BMD Multibridge Eclipse and Matrox MXO2. I read a lot of stuff here about similar set-ups and as far as I understand Kona3 is the best option, right? BMD is cool but it relies on CPU if I'm not mistaken, and although MXO2 can output 10bit the signal in it comes from DVI which is 8bit so it's not 10bit in the end?
Can you please tell me if it's possible to achieve all that with Kona3 and if it's the best way. Will we need some sort of converter from Kona3 to plasma? Would it be smart to invest in Ultrascope or similar tool for checking and adjusting the signal?
Thanks!
