I did the work I know what RED can do in CS4 and beyond.
All I can say is its awesome and watch out for more tutorials and insider thoughts from NVIDIA and Adobe.

I'm also helping out on a couple of RED post jobs right now and will share my findings that aren't bound by NDA.

What we need now is people making decent quality content films, lets just hope its not like the early days of DTP.

Interesting that the Nvidia site claims you need a Quadro card to access the advantages of the Mercury Playback Engine, and lists those that will work. However the Adobe site lists the GTX 285 CUDA enabled card as suitable too, a good option considering its cheaper price, even for the 2gb version.

I wonder if the GTX285 will work?

The Picture-In-Picture and Color Correction videos on the link above are from our new feature - so we're really excited to upgrade when we can. Right now we're using CS4 and a 285 so it takes a bit of effort to render and output.

These cards don't really render neither does the Cuda technology or the mercury technology. They are really just playback engines. For high speed real time rendering you'll need the red rocket card. The online work flow is far far from perfect, Sdi played out via kona 3 to hdsr deck is the quickest work flow or rendering with scratch, pablo, or speedgrade.

hi, how did you handle Timecode and having lot of clips (600-700 ) on one timeline
red is not a color, it's a camera.

Cards do render in CS5, in fact my Quadro CX renders fast. Can't say much more.

I'll have to take your word for it since I don't have CS5

The Kona3 is not used for HDSDI playback using SpeedGrade. You need a Nvidia SDI board which currently only works within PCs. This applies also to Scratch. Haven't used a Quantel Pablo yet but I doubt they are using a Kona3 on Apple hardware...

Hi Hans, Glad to see you have taken an interest in Adobe products. I was only talking about fast Rendering. I only meant Kona from Adobe prepro. Scratch, Speedgrade, pablo for fast onlining and output. platform independent.

Yep, take it. Also in one of the videos posted somewhere here, you can see the difference in render speeds with or without CUDA enabled.
