There is WAAAAY more info on vDSLR's covering countless threads in DVXuser. Much more than there ever was here, 7D section has over a thousand threads – and on all the same topics.
Literally there was nothing new in these deleted threads. No great loss.
Roberto already linked there. Back in post 10
I guess if people are pissed at the Other Cameras board being consigned to the RedUser history folder then they could always start their own forum or their own camera company or both...
Good riddance. It was becoming ridiculous. Footage from a Red One and a Canon 5D can seamlessly intercut? What a waste of bandwidth.
Do we know of any other manufacturer's website or forum that allow readers to post alternative product solutions? RED had been gracious enough to allow that nonsense for a brief moment, but is totally correct and within their right to remove those threads.
For those truly saddened, suffering withdrawal and wants to resuscitate the dead threads, the following domain is available.

After reading the Arri / Red thread, I can only understand Jim deleting this section. I, as a customer, was pissed off... so JJ as the maker... ouch.
Shame that forum got closed.
see, to me the coolest thing about reading all those 7D threads was seeing how the 7D was so obviously NOT a alternate product solution. It was reassuring to know that the $10,000odd i plan on spending on a 2/3" scarlet is be WELL WORTH IT and I wasn't better off putting together an HDSLR rig for the sake of a 35mm sensor.Do we know of any other manufacturer's website or forum that allow readers to post alternative product solutions? You're right though, this is REDs forum and they may do as they like.

I don't come to this forum to read about other cameras. I come here to read about the Red and Scarlet.
very true. but with no footage and only limited info on as-yet-nonexistent scarlet and epic there's really only so much you can read.I don't come to this forum to read about other cameras. I come here to read about the Red and Scarlet.
but the way i see it, we can still use off-topic to pass the time before we all have our patience and fidelity to the brand rewarded to us in the form of DSMC![]()

a lot of us aren't passing the time, we're shooting our RED cams and testing out all the new goodies and building our businesses.
dvxuser, dvinfo, creative cow, 2-pop, CML - all good places to talk about other cameras...there is no lack of intelligent, available discussion about these cameras.
given that, i don't really understand what is lost by shutting down that forum. it all seemed a little bit out of place, anyway.
i would like to see canon build out a similar community, with interactive conversations with their CEO and camera development teams.
the people who are complaining about the end of this forum are complaining to the wrong people - why aren't you spending the same energy encouraging the other camera manufacturers jumping on board this clearly successful model and building out these communities?
you should be goading the big camera companies to follow this lead, instead of complaining about why RED isn't supporting the building of communities around competitors' cams...
now that would be really cool.
