I'm hoping that just means no threads solely devoted to other cameras. When I read your post, I first thought no more side-by-side comparisons, which would really suck.

Two girlfriends sounds like trouble, no? I would not expect Michael....

...anyway, who is going to do side-by-side comparison between Alexa and M-X now? This is the question!

Maybe Jim can make an exception just in this one case with Bravin, Arri, Mitch, etc.

We are keen to do a side by side test of the new Arri cameras and EPIC (or even a RED ONE with Mysterium-X sensor). We'll find a place to put the results here on reduser.

Maybe we can even get the two companies together for a controlled test? Bravin?

So, no "other cameras" forum data? Not even accessible for reading?

    Sounds like a great idea.

Nah, Mike will never agree to that...

Sooner or later some independent third parties will do this test for sure.

Btw, right now I heard that prices for Arri new cameras code named Alexa:

    A-EV Euro 50.000 / U$ 70.000
    A-EV Plus Euro 70.000 / U$ 100.000
    A-OV Plus Euro 130.000 / U$ 185.000

Aside from perfromance, we must consider that these cams are like semi-portable (and I use the word semi with great generosity) science projects. Weight and tech issues are serious issues on a set, and there a recently updated Red wins hands down.

Is there a link to Jim's post talking about his reasoning? Did that disappear with the forums/sections that were removed?

I kind of thought that the REDUser conversation about the vDSLR's was better than what you find elsewhere, so I'll miss it.

I completely agree though its RED's backyard, and I'm happy to play by their rules.
