    Hello All,

I'm new, but I called RED in Lake Forest about to find out the best way to get the word out about this and the polite receptionist told me that this would be the best place.

PONTYPOOL which was just nominated by the Toronto Film Critics Association as Best Canadian Feature and was an Official Selection of the Toronto International Film Festival will be screened by the Annapolis Pretentious Film Society in Annapolis, Maryland on January 11th.

PONTYPOOL which is well reviewed worldwide was shot entirely on the RED ONE camera and in my opinion the image is breathtaking. I am the curator of the APFS (We are really NOT pretentious) and I fell in love with this movie in October when I saw it screened at the 2009 Flyway Film Festival in Pepin, Wisconsin.

So I thought that anyone in Mid-Atlantic within driving distance of Annapolis might be interested in attending. The venue, Rams Head On Stage, is very nice and seats 200. Food and beverage is avaialble throughout the show as well as full dinner packages.

Tickets are only $8 in Advance & $10 at the door.

Details & Ticket links can be found here, along with a trailer:
PONTYPOOL - Indie Film Screening - Annapolis

We screen with a DLP HD projector from an HDMI upconverted DVD. Our image & sound quality are spotless.

Here are a couple of production stills from PONTYPOOL...

Please feel free to me with any questions. Have a safe and Happy New Year.

    Cheers,

We interviewed Bruce after the screening in Calgary. He's a standup guy, especially considering as I accidentally threw popcorn all over him that night.

Anyway, I found that this film can be awesome depending on the audience you watch it with. When I saw it the first time at the press screening I loved it (though the third act is kind of a mixed bag), but when I saw it with an actual audience I really didn't have a good time. I think this quote from penny arcade sums up my experience pretty well:

I have detailed in the past how I enjoy the preview showing "culture," and see them whenever I can - certainly, being in a house full of browncoats for the Serenity preview provided satisfaction at near optimal levels. But this wasn't that. No-one bought these tickets, and I presume the bulk of them came from comic shops as I did, producing a crowd that I found utterly incompatible with the viewing of film.

Ironic Movie Laugh Comic Store Owner and his choir of sycophants felt it absolutely necessary to detail their ignorance on every human topic and make observations that were no doubt "hilarious" to the throng. You motherfuckers aren't Joel, or Crow, or Tom Servo, you're not even Mike. You're not even Gypsy! All you are - breath heavy with synthetic butter, slick fingers slipping on the waxed cup - is the burning ruin of first-run cinema.

I think that PONTYPOOL plays well to smart audiences. I even liked the third act. I can't talk much about it, because I don't want to be a spoiler, but I didn't even know it was shot on RED. So I thought I'd just post this to see if anyone was interested.

I really love the movie though. Do you have that interview posted?

Here is YT of the cast and crew (Including Bruce) talking about RED. Maybe it's yours?

Loved the movie- have watched it a number of times already. Had no idea it was shot on RED: a cherry on top.

The camera work was very well managed. It's really quite a
brave undertaking: a couple of actors and a room; even with
such a well written story it takes a strong and confident head
to deny trying to broaden the limited appeal of this type of
movie with fancy camera moves and other safer bet affectations.

    Congratulations Vinit.
