This isn't intended to be a downer, but a couple people have said that one of the reasons that they were ok with the price increase of fixed scarlet was because it came with redmote. That was my first reaction too... and then I noticed that redmote is nearly half the price of side handle... Am i missing some features of the sidehandle? Just curious of the cost on that one... or is the redmote just that amazing of a deal? :)

Hey Jarred, I am on a roll, so why not throw me a bone and answer any of these for me that you can

    1) how much will the mini pl mount cost ...or at least how much do you expect
    2) is the price variance for battery modules have to do with which batteries it comes with?
    3) the picture of the redmotepro in the announcement said 4k raw on it. Was that a redmotepro on another model, or is the 2/3" surprise specification from #21 that we now get 4k?
    4) I have no intention of buying 2/3" fixed but for shits and giggles how is it that it comes with no side handle or battery module? Does the camera brain for fixed now come with a slot for a single redvolt?
5)what kind of connectors are those exactly on the front of the brains for audio?

thanks man, im trying to find facts and stick to them as much as possible so please help me out

    Wow, I'm absolutely blown away.

Sure wish that there was an "Everything you need" deal for the Scarlet 2/3rds interchangeable like the fixed lense deal.

With the time line, does this mean a return to the NAB showfloor for Red? Or will you continue with a separate Red event?

There looks like a lot to take in...

edit: also the mini-primes will be totally manual, Jarred already said this
    Thanks Peter.
I don't know why I forgot this. I also don't know why I included the primes in a question about servo zooms. Must be because it's 4 am here.. I need to get over the excitement and get to bed....

I guess I wanted to know if we had rocker control zoom from a handle like on a B4 mount broadcast lens. And if there was a servo planned to gear into those Primes for autofocus and iris control (possibly attached to the gunner if that is one of it's functions)

Would be nice to get the low down on the gunner too.
And a little picture to swoon over of the complete Scarlet fixed package as it has been announced.

I can't believe that Red have included the redmote in the fixed lens package, I was so sure from their statements that it would be a basic package, just enough to get you shooting, that they would just stick in the handle for control. Very generous if you ask me...
--edit-- Just read someone else's post who got in there whilst I was typing this pointing out that the side handle is more expensive than the Redmote. I'm sure it was going to be cheaper last time round. Is this because it includes a redvolt perhaps? Or are there some cool new features?

When I saw the Redmote Pro listed (before the pictures of it appeared) I was sure that the price difference was because it had a live preview monitoring facility built in. I guess it still could be. No comments on that so far from RED. Seems like a big step in price to just add a control dial for focus pulling(though I'm sure there's more to it than that, I'm too tired to go compare the pro to the standard redmotes in the pictures).

Jarred, if you are still in an answering mood, can you confirm/expand on the following for the fixed model kit package:

    1) What is the attachment method for the battery?
    2) No handle is part of the fixed kit?
    3) Is the GigE ethernet port on the brain itself?

I assume that all of the other features in the list are part of the brain itself for both models unless otherwise indicated (ie. #4), and NOT indiciative of functionality you need a module for?

Specifically, the LCD in the kit is a touch-focus unit, WiFi built in to brain, REDMote wireless capable, 120(150 burst)FPS, etc...?

Thanks for the info and any answers Jarred (or Jim).

OK, maybe I asked too many questions in one post.

How about just #1 Jarred... how is the battery attach in the fixed kit?

i think its just amazing, I was bummed when I thought the redmote was going to be much more than the side handle because in no way did I want that. I'm glad how it turned out, I much prefer that type on interface to a handle

Like someone who would indeed try to pass through with a real bomb would actually label it But I totally agree, airport security and customs agents have no sense of humor whatsoever. So I agree with Darren.

    Lmao! Best suggestion all night.

Jarred, I have to say that I am VERY pleased with the announcement today. It is pretty much everything I expected. From price to expected delivery dates, it all went over great. These cameras are going to be phenomenal and I cannot wait until I can get my hands on these cameras.

Two things I have to ask though.

When do you think we'll be able to see some footage from the mini-RED Primes. I'd love to see how they compare to the Zeiss DigiPrimes and also the RPPs.

Also, if everything goes well, how about you guys release the 2/3" Scarlet on May 22. Its my birthday and we Jerrods/Jarreds gotta stick together.

Around two stops difference Scarlet 2/3" is comparable to 16mm. Go watch a 16mm film or something shot on F900 (ie. Star Wars EP 1-3) or Battlestar Galactica (better example) and you will see. IMO 2/3" is a beautiful range to have. It easy to get a nice DOF fall off and you its easier to control when man-handling the beast on your own. You get the best of both worlds. Shooting Scarlet wide open would be the same as shooting f4- 5.6 split on 35mm
