What would need to be purchased to have the equivelant of the kit that the fixed comes with? I'm assuming the brain, LCD, and battery? How much more would it cost to go this route v.s. the fixed route?

Well you can add up the accessories and see...but this would be minus glass you are looking at around $5.5-6000

Very impressive specs on everything. I can't wait for the new tools! Know you guys are super busy, but just a little input from my end.

RedMote Pro is awesome for everybody's use, plain and simple. A little feature to add would be a little nub at the top of the rim that protects the marking wheel. The best AC's I've worked with will mark their wheel, one----two, then spin the tally mark to their one, and put their middle finger inside edge at the marking pole thing (don't know the technical term) then put their forefinger inside edge on the two mark. Giving a visual reference and physical one as well. As soon as they hit their mark, BOOM they know it... but that blocks the screen right behind the mark so I don't know how it may be implemented.

Can't wait for the Bomb EVF, when can I buy one from the red store, can i get in the club to test it out, I'll pay tomorrow morning.

How many lcds can be attached at one time on EPIC/Scarlet? Can i have 2 lcds attached simultaneously on EPIC, with BOMB evf?

So it that all? I really wish you guys would say whether an announcement is complete or not :P

A good, reassuring announcement IMO. Sean's Scarlet S35 fund starts now.

HaHa!! When the director has got music playing in his head and he wants the focus to pull from mid-fore, in time to the beats in his mind, we all have to be mind readers. FEEL THE SCENE PEOPLE FEEL THE SCENE!!

This is incredible... especially the fully featured 8x fixed Scarlet. 2010 is going to be a very exciting year.

Will RRD encoding be an open format so other developers can integrate?

Welp, i was pessimistic about this announcement, so thankfully, you guys have surprised me in a good way :)

For those debating between an 8x fixed or an interchangeable... assuming you can only afford or want one, I have a suggestion. (and this should be obvious for most, i hope)

If you have a nikon/canon dslr and electronic lenses, it may be well worth the extra 1,000 - 1,500 $ you will spend on battery/charger and lens mount.

Obviously thats the idea behind having the brain so cheap. I see the scarlet 2/3 aimed for those who only need just that or can only afford one or two of them. If you can afford the ff35 or above, you're more likely to be able to afford Red lenses.

Me? I'll be happy if I can afford a fixed sometime after it comes out. If not, im sure people's HVX 200s will be going for nice and cheap on ebay as they scramble to come up with cash for the scarlet.

Btw... I still shoot with a couple of Xl1's.

my thoughts.. feel like sharing tonight. Its a good night :)

So just to verify, is the 8X Fixed a "fixed" mount, as in you cannot swap out the 8X Lens with an Electronic mount for RED/Nikon/Canon? Or is it just a fixed 8X lens and you can upgrade later? The 8X Fixed kit is awfully tempting, especially if you could just slap on a $500 electronic mount later on...

Affixed "fixed" fixed. Unfixable should it be removed outside of a service center.
