Look - I work with RED footage, so I know the camera will take amazing video. I just can't yet visualise using it myself, nor any of the TV cameramen I work with every day (and if you're not targeting them with the 2/3", who are you?)

Not trying to be negative - I'd like to hear why I'm wrong - clearly people have held and handled this, so I'd love to hear from them.
I know what you mean, but I don't think you or your cameramen will film with this cam holding it handheld on one handle mounted direct to the cam. Way to much unwanted motion. So you'd need something like a Tripod, a steadycam or some shouldermount to use it. And a Handle just to carry this thing around would just be at the wrong place all the time imho...

Wow... a lot to take in. Some very fantastic announcements.

Unfortunately it sounds like Tattoo is very small, and unless there is an R1 M-X upgrade announcement to be included there won't be much to do about shooting this winter with the added DR... but congrats on all the work accomplished and keep on trucking!

A special thank you for heated EVF! Few will comment, but it is a very cool trick!

Redmote Pro looks interesting. The pro level FF market will be hard to crack: no leniency for growing pains there, it will either work to a focus puller's standards or it won't. Either way sweet option for the fixed prosumer market.

I'm really excited about the internal heater in the Bomb EVF:

"One great new feature that just snuck in in time for production is the Bomb EVF now has an internal heater, to allow for extremely cold operation. BOMB EVFs will work with all RED CAMERAS, including the RED ONE."

Working outside of LA in (heaven forbid) cold environments, the EVF solorizes all the time and is a big nuisance. There are corrective measures, but again they are annoying. I didn't know if these EVF problems would make there way all the way to sunny California and into the new design. Really, really, impressed that Red's philosophy of listening to the customers actually plays out so well in day to day product design. Thanks again Red!

One less quirk I have to explain on Set!

In cold situations (the kinda cold people really shouldn't be in :) ) the Display and the batteries seem to always go first... You can always keep batteries warm in a pack but the EVF was a hard one to keep warm.. so we added a heater :)

You know what - nevermind. It's late here and I've been working all weekend - so I'm just being cranky. I look forward to seeing all the other shots of it, and being proved wrong - apologies. Move along.
Yeah I think it sort of looks like it'll NEED the bottom handle... rounding things off a bit and such...

Ah well... Still whoops the ass of any other camera I've seen at that price point... even if I do have to fork out extra for the bottom handle to make it more comfortable...

Hey there's an idea... A bottom handle with nothing in it. Just the empty shell...to help with the form factor... then we can choose to upgrade to a bottom handle that's got some extra capabilities or whatever... modularly.

I wish the 2/3 would take 12MP stills (as that's the minimum I can use for my still photography work). Different strokes for different folks. I hate HDR imaging to a fault but I appreciate being given the option; I'm not going to begrudge RED for giving me options :)

Great work guys. Just wondering about the roll out plans, who gets what first and RED RAY/digital cinema compatability.

    You guys rock :)
