If my camera is turned off for a while, and I power it up, the back LCD turns on but no text is displayed. The fan runs at full power. The LCD doesn't turn on. If I try to power down nothing happens and everything stays on. The camera only turns off if I disconnect the battery.

After all this happens, when I reconnect the battery and power the camera on it seems to start up without any problems. This first-time freeze up has been a problem for some time now on my camera, and I'm finally getting tired of it. I thought maybe the new firmware build would fix the problem, but it hasn't.

This problem is fairly intermittent enough that I can't determine the specific cause. Some days, it never happens. Today, and two days ago, it did happen.

They were going to repair a flickering LED in my camera during the upgrade. The flickering LED never got fixed, so maybe my camera didn't get all the upgrades either. It seems to have good sound though.

We made it pretty clear in all communications that the upgrade center and repair center were at two different locations. And all upgrades were done to your camera. What you can do is check with our upgrade coordinator (upgrades - at - red - dot - com) to see if you ever got a RMA number for the LCD repair and what the techs found, if they did move your camera to repair after upgrade. They ONLY would have done this if you requested an RMA up front before sending in for upgrade.

Quickest way to get answers - is to ask us.

I just sent them a message, but getting an RMA issued doesn't mean the work was done, just that the work was supposed to be done. That is, unless you have a robot that produces RMA numbers while simultaneously making all the repairs. If a human is involved in the process, mistakes will happen. Of course, with my luck, the camera did get fixed and simply developed the same problem immediately afterward.

Anyway, the flickering is inconsequential, it's the double boot-up that really frustrates me.

No, we are not robots. Let me know your RMA number via PM, I will be more than happy to confirm that the work was done.

Red has informed me that the work was never done. In the meantime, what is causing the boot problem?
