    Horses for courses....
Its less about the features, but the limits of features, not saying a FCP with LUTS and DPX is the same as smoke, but the SMOKE for MAC is gonna be 1920x1080 max resolution. On top of that I know there are going to be other limits, and I highly dought some of the high end new features of smoke are gonna be in this version.
"You do not need to own another Smoke to buy one.

It will require the yearly service contract to keep it licensed.

It will be missing the higher end node based compositing tree which will
stay with the full Smoke for now."
Looks like the stuff that makes the SMOKE a real SMOKE won't be in SMACK.

Yes, it seems Batch wont make it in, a shame, then again, 1 year ago, before they included batch on smoke, it was still a VERY capable system.

Don't really have details on it, but if its limited to 1080, no batch, and no modular keyer (I asume this). then it isn't a GREAT deal, but its still a pretty good deal.

I do wonder what is going to be the reaction of someone who recently bought the *normal* smoke on linux, as this sounds it will be very simlar and a LOT less $$$$. Those guys might get PISSED.

I bought a Smoke Master (2k and 4k) about one year and half on Linux. I have serious doubt I will have the same on Mac for GPU reasons. As an addition to my existing system, it could be nice.

I don't think autodesk will kill his business making the same version on Mac for 1/10 the price of my system. If it's the case, it's not a goof news, but I'm selling talents and not machines :)

Max resolution is 4K. Any custom resolution can be dialed -in up to 4K. Solid release for a V1. There is no turning back. The product will certainly continue to be improved henceforth. I feel strongly that plug in support will be available once developers have had time to catch up.
