    Even as a husband and father myself, it is impossibly hard for me to imagine the weight of your burden right now Scott. Try your best to be strong for your children...they will need you to be their rock.

    Your RED "family" is here for you...in times of trauma families draw closer and support each other.

    The welfare and healing of you and your children will be in the prayers of me and my wife

    As a father of children aged 3 and 5 I cannot begin to imagine how hard this has been for you. I hope talking and listening here gives you the courage you will need in the days ahead.

    When my father died, a friend left the following poem, and it gave more comfort than I can explain. I hope it gives you even a tiny amount.

    Do not stand at my grave and weep;
    I am not there. I do not sleep.
    I am a thousand winds that blow.
    I am the diamond glints on snow.
    I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
    I am the gentle autumn rain.
    When you awaken in the morning's hush
    I am the swift uplifting rush
    Of quiet birds in circled flight.
    I am the soft stars that shine at night.
    Do not stand at my grave and cry;
    I am not there. I did not die.

    I'm grateful that your children seem to be in the good hands of such a strong and compassionate father at such an unimaginable moment in time to help carry them through.

    Sending positive vibes in your direction.

    Hi Scott. A filmmaker friend of mine who had met his wife in high school, married, had two children also lost his wife (followed shortly thereafter by the death of his father and the loss of his home). Three months after her death, he started to write a blog about this moment in his life and since I can't really imagine being in your place, I wonder if maybe connecting with someone who has or reading his thoughts might provide any help.

    He begins his story at the bottom of this page; http://rhymeswithdrowning.blogspot.c...1_archive.html

    I am very sorry.

    (My step father also lost his first wife when he had young children (now, my step siblings)... and the one thing I have seen from them is that it seemed it helped to not make the subject of their mother a taboo. They all grew up to be impressive young adults... while the loss of their mother will always be a sad memory, it is not the end of the story.)

    I'm very sorry to hear of your loss.

    Only time will soothe such a terrible loss; for now you must carry on and safeguard your children. I'm sure you will.

    We are all with you in spirit.
