I typical don't jump in here, never posted in this section. What's got me is that everyones doing back flips over Epic X....which is S35....

Woohoo, although I think the camera is great, does no one see it is supposed to become outdated as well?

Basicly I hear what your saying, I never planned on trading in for an EPIC-X even with the 5K worth of accessories. I/We are after EPIC 645. I care more about them up holding their trade in and place in line for that brain than I care about a S35 Epic.

Let others burn up their place in line or trade ups to EPIC-X. Only time I'll call foul on RED is if people who execute their RED ONE's get in front of those who have not, or chose not to while waiting for the later EPIC cameras.

Keeping in mind we we are in the process of purchasing a RED ONE. The above question is something that might stop us from going though with it or moving forward. If the above is not true, we may just wait.

Lenny, again I am hazy as to what is your exact gripe.

You received the benefit of the 2500 discount when you got your red one - (didn't hear any complaining then)
You received a camera at a new low price point given its specs -
then sold the camera off for (more or less) what you paid for it.

You seem to be doing fine so far.

...so what "trade in" are you proposing?

You have nothing to deal with - You can't trade in a used car if you've sold it. So how do you feel victimised exactly?

I don't mean to be incalcitrant but it sounds to me like lots of provocative "Vladimir Ilyich Jannard sold out the proletariat" rhetoric in order to get more money off a camera purchase.

I know if I was Jim Jannard I'd be pretty incensed if someone accused me of being a sell out for sticking by what I said I'd do. They told people this was coming - there was due warning. They are a camera company - not a political movement, religious order or moral doctrine. No one has "sold out".




Or maybe I'm just too cynical and this thread is genuinely all about a political principle, concern for the plight of fellow workers and the death of a Leninist utopian dream...

....and not just about getting some free shit from Red.

i want to have the chance to trade my red that i was about to buy, and already have on order, for the epic x when my number comes up, and do it for the same deal that everyone else before me is getting, and if that option is going to end, to be forewarned so i can do something about it. and not just for me, but for everyone else.

what i really want is to know the rules of the game before i play, not after i have made my move.

I think all this ranting and raving about things that don't exist yet are so very very funny. There appears to be a considered and logical business plan in place for this unique product. Get an episode on Oprah or complain to Doctor Phil, it's really tiresome...

I think the crux of Lenny's gripe is the way Red announced the deadline after the deadline. I've gotta admit, that was pretty messed up. When I read that, I was like "damn, I hope no one was waiting for the announcement to decide whether to buy a Red."

Lenny, I'm with you 100% on this. Well, more like 99%, as the whole communist, cult, elitist club thing kinda threw me off. You're either a current customer of Red, or a past customer. I see nothing wrong with rewarding current customers.

But still, I think Red should have given fair warning.
