We do a lot of green screen work and have a bit of a workflow problem...

We render to ProRes SQ for an offline and edit in FCP. No problems there.
The offline editors pull quick keys in FCP and we end up with an offline containing several layers (plates and keyed footage). The problem comes when we want to export to the VFX department. The FCP timeline contains multiple clips in multiple tracks which, when exported, end up as a individual folders. It's quite difficult for the VFX department to know which layers go together. To make things worse, when two parts of a clip are used in a project, they are rendered to the same folder.

Could Scratch help in any way?

    Irri -

You should consider the following -

Import your FCP XML into Adobe Premiere Pro.

Re-connect to R3Ds in Premiere - several work-arounds to do this - soon Premiere will do it for you.

    Send to After Effects.

Deliver the R3D media used + the AE project.

Your VFX house will now have a AE project file with all the layers, etc. matching your FCP project.

From AE - they can turn off tracks at will - and export to DPX, EXR, etc. - whatever their VFX pipeline needs.

    ScratchCine does not support multi-layer.

It doesn't seem to work with FCS3 though.

Try with Clipfinder 2.2 Tools-Run conform on FCP XML-Replace clips with R3D-Import in Premiere (use latest update of Premiere).
