  1. #1 RedRushes and AvidMC
Hello and thank in advance for any help.

First time with Red footage, so here goes.

I've followed the PDF instructions offered by Avid
regarding Red Rushes. So far mostly good, but it's
    a very simplified description.

    1. Should the "Output" folder have a red specific name (something
relative to the red folder the clips came from?)
or should I simply name that something that makes
sense for my end of the project? i.e. just one folder
that holds the clips/ALE for the whole project.

    2. After I do the transcodes and export an ALE, I'm a bit confused
as to how to import them all. On a test clip and ALE I generated
from it, I simply imported it and and got 2 clips-one offline with
what seems like all the metadata (the ALE I
presume) and one online (the quicktime). I would guess I'm
doing something wrong, as I'd like to have a single clip with
    the associated Metadata.

    3. Since my deliverables will be for the internet, I'd like to keep my transcodes as efficient as possible. I tried one at "Half Res-High"
and one at "Half-Res-Standard" and I think the standard actually
looks sharper strangely. Any settings advice for internet deliverables
that will be graded and exported from a DNxHD project would be appreciated.

    Thanks very much.

Seem to be getting further with a fair bit of success.
Never had to Batch Import before-pretty straightforward.

I think I'll go forward with a bunch of transcodes overnight.

Do I simply make a new/updated ALE after a batch of transcodes?

Then import that ALE into the same bin I've created that already
has the first batch in it?

    Thank you.

The debayer settings can get more sharp in the half good versus half premium. For Internet delivery I suspect half good will be good enough for HD based internet delivery.

For every batch of transcodes you do in RED rushes, you make an ALE. Import ALE first, select all, batch import to the directory of related QT's. The name of the target directory is entirely up to you for your own organisation.

Thanks. So far all is going just fine. Got a couple of workstations on it.
Makes sense about the target folder (that's what I did anyway).

Any thoughts on why Half-Standard is sharper than Half-Premium?
Is it just the way Quicktime displays it at this quality/codec (DNxHD 175 in this case)?

I just want to make sure I'm working with the best quality files as I
spend the time transcoding and importing.

    Thanks for your reply.

As I understand it, it is based on how the images are scaled during the debayer process. They are done differently - that is all I know...

I think they are scaled the same just the offset is different.
