  1. #1 Starting from SCRATCH: White paper on building systems
    Folks,

I get a lot of questions about how SCRATCH systems are configured, why some things are spec'd, and general costs of these items.

I thought I would answer all the questions in one doc. Its 28 pages long and I am pretty sure it covers everything--including equipping your system for 3D stereoscopic.

    You can download it here:

This is a 1.0 doc, so if you have suggestions I am happy to incorporate them into the next revision.

Thanks Torrey for all the hard work it must have taken some time and it is obviously based on considerable experience in Scratch system builds. But, groan, you have forced me into the realization that I will have to migrate my 32bit system to 64bit in the not too distant future so I can move onto V5 and beyond. New chassis and mobo (with enough slots for the Red Rocket), graphics card and raid, oh and a 30 inch monitor for the upcoming scopes... yet another trip to Low Yat Plaza.
When Windows 7 and the Nvidia graphics drivers are officially made available and the anticipated Scratch V5 is released, perhaps you could update the computer/raid side of your white paper to reflect the 64bit transition and to encourage us existing Scratch owner/users to rejoin the rebellion.
    Thanks again for your efforts,

    Scott,

Absolutely--we'll update it when the new tech is out.

Thank you Torrey for this document.

Do you know whether scratch V.5 can create a complete DCP?
