Yes the battery was still operable, but the connections weren't accessible because of the melted contact pushed all the way into the battery housing. We replaced the contacts and connection, the battery is now able to charge and discharge. Please PM me for international service inquiries.

FYI, we still offer this service to any RedUsers that need it. I've been getting some inquiries lately about it.

    Hi Vincent,

I have 5 Red batteries with various issues. One of them lights up 4 out of 5 bars but won't power the camera and gives a red light on the charger. The terminal block looks questionable but not as bad as what you've shown. I've got the thing open, am very handy with a soldering iron too. I've put my voltage meter on the red and black power wires inside the case, but am only getting a few millivolts reading. Voltage meter on the Test and VDD terminals on the pc board gives about 14.5 volts. Any thoughts? Could it be the terminal block? If so, since I'm in Canada, can I still purchase replacement terminals from you, and how much if I can?

    Thanks,
    Ron

Just answered my own question I think, it's the terminal block. I took an xacto knife to the plus and minus terminals to clean them up a bit and now the battery works on the charger and fires up the camera. But it's only reading "DC" on the camera. Could this also be the terminal block? I have a few that are like that, only read DC.

    Thanks,
    Ron

    Hi Ron,

The middle terminals control the data, so try cleaning those with the xacto. If that doesn't work it could be a solder connection to the terminals or a reed switch issue.
