    REDucation SN#001 update

We are in the last few hours of Day 7 of REDucation #1 as I'm writing this up on a break. (took me all day today to post it as I was back at RED HQ working today)

This first class has been an amazing experience in so many ways, it's been fun, loaded with technical information and practical knowledge and hands on work.

The students were of varied backgrounds and came from all over the world to be a part of this program. I think we learned as much from the students and their experiences as the students learned from us. So many real world discussions over the course of 7 days - it was amazingly cool in so many ways.

We had two 4k projection systems in the classroom one driving full 4k and one driving multiple inputs to view 2k deliverables, finished products and the various technology demos - it was crazy fun.

We learned so much about what we did right with this first run of the class, and a ton about what we will do better next time.... All the students gave great feedback on what they liked, what was of maximum value, and what we could improve on.

There were a few "train has trouble leaving the station" moments, but from my POV, no real train wrecks in 7 full days of the class - and any moments where there was trouble with setup or running demos and hands on learning, everyone was able to compensate and get things cooking as needed after some minor adjustments.

I imagine others in the class will post here on their experiences, I just wanted to start the ball rolling, and post this class photo of REDcuation Class #001 (The image on the poster was shot with the RED ONE - and I grabbed this shot on the kitchen floor of the signed poster with my still camera before it got sent off to be mounted in a frame.

There were lots of pix taken during the week of the class in action, some posted on the other REDucation thread - perhaps some of the students and staff can post more pix here on this thread for all to see.

Thanks to everyone who participated in this first outing of REDucation - Next one is in October!

You guys made history and I was so glad to be a part of it. I look forward to reading more of the posts, pictures and feedback. Even more I look forward to the next one. I am going to working on getting some ladies in the next class.

I attended the Red Tech portion as well and I have to say it was a blast. Aside from Michael Cioni somehow killing the batteries in his mic every 30-45 min. everything went very well. Working around Red all day and with people who are all about Red was an amazing experience. Ted and Michael were the perfect people to lead these classes- and the assisting crew of Steve, Von, Mauricitio and Casey (and a cameo appearance by Peter Holland) couldn't be matched.
An advanced class would be killer.

REDucation was tough! 8/9 hours a day (weekend included) for 7 days. And it was amazing. I've got a lot of information and confirmations. It's incredible how vast is the ocean of the Red and more incredible it's how deeply we have dived into it.
Thanks to the teachers, the assistants and everybody who attended REDucation SN#001, it was a pleasure meeting you.

On behalf of IGI, it was a pleasure to support such a motivated and creative group of professionals. We enjoyed meeting many of you during Community Day and wish you all the best as you head back into the field with new RED knowledge and renewed enthusiasm and inspiration.

We are curious to hear your thoughts on our IGI PowerWindow | 4K display that was used throughout the classes, its potential uses in RED production and post production workflow, our new Rental Resource and Finder's Fee program, etc. Thanks!

The Power Window was awesome, for those that didn't see it, basically it's a setup to project 4k in a small space. So we had a 10 foot 4k screen that didn't require the projector being all the way across the room. It uses rear projection and a had a nice clean setup. You could literally be standing right next to it and it still looked amazing.

Special thanks to all the guys at IGI, they were super friendly and went way above and beyond for us.

I also would like to add several positive comments and Thank Ted, Michael Cioni, Jeff and Crew who put some much effort in organizing this seminar. Including Sponsors who provided all the equipment.
You guys done outstanding work. Not only everything went well, including information overload:), but Crew covered huge amount of info in 7 days. I really respect the honesty of Ted and Michael when they covered some of the hot and fragile topics.

Working with Red and Digital system, I found out it’s never ending educational road, and any information you gather, make sure You gather from the best. This was one Great Educational Week Guys.

I would recommend this class only to people who are serious about the technology and want to learn, because space is limited:) and instructors time is valuable:)

    Cheers,
