Is it just me or do the UniQoptics lenses and Red Pro Primes look almost identical?

Their 25 and 35 are big and beefy
    So are Red's

    Their 50, 85, and 100 are a little smaller
    So are Red's

Their mechanics and gearing look very similar

They have similar stainless steel PL style backs

The front elements look very similar

They both don't include the 18MM

Both are similar in T-stop range

    Both tout 32mm image circles

    Both have 110mm fronts

    Both claim virtually no breathing

What is going on here? UFOS? Shadow Government? Mel Gibson Conspiracy theories?

    Common optical design requirement.

    Their 50, 85, and 100 are a little smaller
    Same as above.

Their mechanics and gearing look very similar
    So do Master Primes.

They have similar stainless steel PL style backs
Every cine lens has a stainless steel mount.

The front elements look very similar
They are both made of glass.

They both don't include the 18MM
18mm is notoriously more difficult to design.

Both are similar in T-stop range
Why would they make slower glass?

    Both tout 32mm image circles
    Looking forward... Good business.

    Both have 110mm fronts
An intelligent decision to make a common OD for accessories.

    Both claim virtually no breathing

    Old news.

They are not the same. That is a fact.

I believe the UO lens are internal focus and the Red Primes are the old school kind where the front element moves back and forth while focusing like the Red 18-50.

Can you agree that they share a lot of similarities especially since they are brand new PL sets about to hit the market at roughly the same time/price point.

Nope. The Red primes are true internal focusing lenses also.
