I have never heard of a 15-day grace period for motion picture equipment. If Best Buy starts selling the Red Primes they might be able to offer you some kind of grace period.:)
I'm merely mentioning since we are not there...what would be the best way to test them. Yes, I argee either at Red HQ or rent them from someone else...but I'm concerned about the price? After NAB, what happens? then I wait for 6 to year to get the lenses? If I wait...

15-day grace period was just a suggestion? Sure, I bought gear before but not like this. I do tests like everyone.

thanks for the suggestion...maybe I should of canceled these shoots and came down? Ha Ha...!!!

I've been told by other lens manufacturers of a "grace-period" when considering a purchase (7 days, not 15).

But in lieu of testing them yourself, you could wait for the SALT results. Nothing beats your own eyes, but the people involved with that test make it the second best option. I think the test is happening sometime early May, but it's hard to say when the results would become public (working d.p.'s volunteering their time to put it together).

Yes, I bought gear that if I was not fully happy with the products I would be able to return them. Film gear is not like consumer products that you buy from Best Buy or Fry's electronics...I know that. Gees...Its a relationship you have with the third party vendor or authorized dealer that sells or recommends these fine products. I imagine if I bought a set of MP and didn't like them...hardly the case since I heard they are the best of the best but heavy.
I would get my money back or substituted another set of lenses like the UP's. I imagine they would make sure whatever it would take to make sure I'm happy and taken care of. I'm guessing MP's are not selling like hot cakes like these RPL's because of the price point. Some of you are buying one, two or three sets. Good to hear those kind of reviews.

Yes, I will see and test them myself whenever their available. I wonder if they will be at the RED store in Irvine, CA?

The RPPs are on display at the RED store in Lake Forest, CA. And you can see them on a lens projector there as well.

I'll be selling my most of my existing lenses (except my 300mm) to leverage my way into these, that's how impressed I was by these.

Now I need a case. I'm thinking of doing two smaller laser-cut cases that'll hold 3 primes apiece. Maybe stormcase? anyone else have thoughts?

I forget, are all the primes the same diameter? if so, that'd sure make cutting foam easy.

    Jim,

The 18-85 mm RED PRO zoom came with a flexible front cap that touches the front element. We were forced to buy a replacement cap from Duclos.

Will the RPPs have more solid front caps?
