Interesting points of view, and in fact we do cover many styles of production in our classes - each class organically moves the students and their TAs building up the rigs to drive the types of production they plan on doing with the cameras, and how flexible and simple the tools are to use for lots of types of shooting. We build up handheld rigs with light Canon lenses, Studio rigs on big heavy tripods with long PL mount lenses and studio support, and just last week Brian grabbed a Monopod for one of the cameras to use in the class, since I've seen this shooting style being used a lot now for Scarlet and EPIC in the Hybrid shooting mode for getting high rez stills and motion from the same gig.

Monopods are the future. Im seeing them on everything recently. Not just EPIC either, *spit* ALEXA *spit* too.
Hello Red Team,
Can someone please give me an indication of how competitive REDucation X will be?
How many applicants does RED expect?
How many Shorts will the top 21 have made?
Will people with camera skills be favoured over, say, editors or producer types?
How many years experience does RED anticipate the top 21 will have? etc etc
I know these are hard questions to answer, but please, if you could give any indication at all - I'd appreciate it.
Thanks
Brendan

Brendan,
REDucation X is a response to a number of current and future filmmakers who have requested more from our week long REDucation course. As this is our first effort we do not have an expected applicant number but have already received some inquiries from some talented people. We hope to create a well rounded group of 21 students with a mix of skills and experience - future camera operators, editors and producers - passion for learning and creating are the keys.
NAB has been a great place to discuss this with the RED community in person and Ted and I will continue to post updates here on our progress.
Brian
Thanks for the info Brian,
I gather these courses will be run as frequently as the original REDucation?
Because of the length of the class we see REDucation X running once a year for now.
Is the registration for the red open house Dec 5th open yet?
The link to it doesn't work...
