So I got my mount, mainly to swap to Nikon in case I lack light with my Red PL zooms...

I haven't tried it yet, but a guy in a store said the G and DX lenses were meant for small sensor cameras, he said I needed the F series lenses... Does that mean the the Gs and DXs vignette or I have to shoot 2K cropped sensor or something?

That'd be a bummer for no F lenses I know open past 2.8, just like the Red lenses, so pointless to swap in low light then...

I was so hoping to use my f1.4 & f1.8 Gs and DXs with it!

Lewis, don´t worry, try it. My DX lenses cover all 4,5K without any vignetting. The Tokina 11-16mm is a DX lens . The DX sensor is almost the same size like S-35mm Mysterium.
    Cheers,
    Marc

Yes, "DX" series lenses only cover Nikon's APS-C sensor (which they've rebranded DX for some reason) but that's 24x16mm, which means these lenses will cover the full Red One sensor.

"G" series lenses are simply those that lack a manual aperture ring. It has nothing to do with coverage. Some "G" lenses are "DX" and some are 'FF35' (or "FX" as Nikon is now calling it). Don't know where this guy got his information.

Lee is correct... The G callout on Nikon lens purely means there is no aperture ring... it does not have anything to do with the size of the image circle.

Thanks guys, that makes a whole difference. That means I can access a lot of f1.4 lenses now! I love my Red zooms, but they're sometimes tough to work with in low light situations. I wanted to get the Red primes, but now that I know the anamorphics are coming one day... I'd rather wait for those as I only do narrative in scope...
