I am looking the some options for multi-cam shoot of a Church service to be recorded and then sent out to Broadcast. What i was think is:

2 or 3 Scarlets, 2 on sticks and one over the shoulder sent to a Live switch using the HD-SDI out. The Switch I was looking at was the Datavideo SE-1000 ( http://www.vistek.ca/store/ProVideoE...-switcher.aspx ) From there into a Mac using a Kona Card to put on lower-thirds and suppers and Project it to screens for audiences. From the Mac to a Telestream Pipeline ( http://www.telestream.net/pipeline/overview.htm ) to be captured by a Mac Server using Final Cut Server to output to any broadcast format needed.

Would this setup work? Or would I be better off looking at a true ENG camera to do the work?

    Your opinions would be appreciated.

    In my opinion...
First you need to set a working budget.
Second you need to hire a consultant who can visit your site location to make a proper assessment.

    Good Luck!

I have not found a consultant here in Edmonton that knows enough about the red cam to help us out! :waaa: I was hoping to get some ideas on this forum.

    Hi Caleb,

Greetings from Idaho! You may also want to consider the Panasonic HS400 switcher (http://catalog2.panasonic.com/webapp...odel=AV-HS400N) in your system rather than the datavideo. I think it will allow you to do split screen monitoring of your input/preview/program all on a big dvi monitor like the 30" Apple Cinema rather than a bunch of separate dedicated monitors. There are option slots for additional inputs/outputs which allow you various analog and digital choices.

It probably is going to be hard to find a consultant familiar with the Red Scarlets since so few details are known at this point. Even the price points for anything but the fixed lens Scarlet are not yet known, so it would be hard to budget for a functional setup.

    Hi Caleb
We use the Datavideo 1000 series in Kabul on our ENG trucks, and we drive several 17 inch and 30 inch external displays with this. I like the unit as it does logo's, delay, etc and very easy to use.

We capture normally via HD-SDI in to our turcks, into the switcher, the off to the router for local storage via an AJA HD-IO box and also an output to DVB for our VSAT link.

We are also using this now with my Red One with no issues, we come off the HD-SDI output to a Nucomm MW Wireless Back that transmits to the truck in full HD 4/4/4 capture.

So it can be done, your plan will work, but I would simplify the capture with an AJA box that can do almost anything in realtime and use that into the Apple system for Play out.

If you have any other questions, or want to go into details on your ideas drop me a PM, I run the operations for our network along with being the chief technology officer
