Can't argue with the chart ;)

I presume the corner softness improves as you stop the Tokina down, but the CA won't...? Literally nothing to pick holes in with the Nikon 14-24 at all. Amazing lens.

Nikon 14-24 is sharper and less distortion than Tokina 11-16, but has apparent zoom effect while changing focus....
Tokina 11-16 has severe distortion at 11mm but less at 16mm, and almost no breath while changing focus.
I don`t satisfy both using on motion picture, but I pay $550 to get Tokina 11-16, and use 16mm most time.
Because Tokina is lighter, cheaper and no breath, 16mm is wide enough for me on 5K FF, and 11mm can make some "effect".
Looking forward new version of Tokina 11-16, it will be available in this year.

does the Sigma 8-16 vignette at the 8mm end? Do you have to go down to 3K?
I am trying to find out how to obtain widest field of view. Would i be better off with a full frame SLR lens such as a Nikon 14mm
    Thanks for any input.

    I've had 2 tokina 11-16 lenses.

The first one, I sent back because the focus at infiniti was so soft. (noticed on the ski slopes)
Even stopped down a stop or two, the 2nd version is the same way.

I compared this to my 17mm Canon L Tilt shift and the Canon was MUCH sharper.

Unless I've gotten 2 bad versions.. I'm surprised I haven't heard more comments about this on reduser.

I know I may be asking a lot for a $600 lens.... But at infiniti these things are REALLY soft - not in focus at all.

    Anyone else seen this?

    Wes,

Mine is very soft at infinity also which is a bummer as that is where I planned to use it most.

    Which begs the question:
    Is it in focus?

My copy was really soft at 16mm F2.8, 5ft focus, compared to my 14-24 nikon. I sent mine back to B&H. Unless I hear otherwise about sharpness, not going to try this lens again. I'm not sure what all the people are raving about.
