Actually, I'd say if the FF35 doesn't support PL Mount lenses then it's pretty much just an expensive Stills Camera. If the only option for shooting on it is either stills lenses or Red's own lenses, I can't see how it will be acceptable within the larger film industry.

jeff just shed some light on this whole lens issue for me. if you get the FF35 sensor, it just gives you the OPTION to shoot FF35 lenses. It would also give you the option to shoot S35mm lenses I would imagine, with absolutely no downside. I am sure there will be menu and format options to make this very easily achieved. Thanks Jeff, one of my two worries is now gone, and I will be going with the FF35 brain myself.

Exactly. Looks like all the Epic brains are the exact same dimensions, just different sensors in them. That would mean you could put any of the detachable lens mounts on them. I wonder what the crop factor will be for PL lenses. I hope it'll be 5K.

I'm with Jeff. . . I'm convinced that the sweet-spot will be the Vista-Vision FF35. I can see no reason at all go larger, and only a lens issue to go smaller.

The beauty? We get even narrower depth of fields and can crop down a bit and still be at true 4K. There will not be delivery systems widely available in theaters or to consumer beyond 4K during my working lifetime. (I'm almost 52.)

You should still be able to use cine glass on the Epic's FF35 sensor, but it may or may not be a full 4K resolution, depending upon the pixel sizes (I haven't done the math on that).

I think they did - they just haven't said so yet.

I'm seriously hoping my 5k s35 scarlet has windowed capabilities beyond 30fps. Who says it can't do 120 fps at 3k as well as the lower models? That would make sense with the current R1 product scheme, right?

Didn't jim let us speculate elsewhere that epic could do something like 500 fps at 2k? That would make sense if they were windowing a 9k brian.

Why is this even a question? Of course it'll have Windowed modes. They're just listing the Max Resolution and FPS at that resolution.

As far as FF35/Monstro making PL glass obsolete: this is a really silly statement. STILL GLASS IS NOT MADE FOR FILMMAKING. Proper Markings, Mechanics, etc. PL Mount glass isn't going anywhere.
