  1. #1 Strange purple artifacting
A customer of ours sent these stills from shots on a build-16 camera. The puple-ish artifacting shows up in the same place no matter which lens they used. I'm not sure if it's a compression problem (I don't know how they rendered out these stills) or if it's something more serious. Doesn't look like hot pixels, or like olpf dirt because it's too sharp.

Any ideas/possible fixes would be appreciated.

**Note, these are close-up crops, not full frame.**

Looks like something maybe between the OLPF and the sensor maybe?

Try a black balance? Incidentally are all the marks in exactly the same place on the sensor? It's inconclusive from the frame grabs coz they're randomly zoomed in. How does the sensor look to the eye (have a close look with a sensor loupe if you have one)?

The sensor was clean to the eye before it was sent out, and the sensor cavity was dust free. All of the spots appear to be on the same spot on the image, some of the ones I got were cropped 2.40, but it appears they're all in the same place.

I do a black shading before every rental, but I don't know what their settings were. I'm hoping to get a copy of the .r3d file to analyze.

Can you send the log file to tech support? They already have the images.

The funny thing is that they are all in focus.

I've seen similar artifacts before, and the nearest we could figure out is that pixels on the sensor were 'burned' by a laser during a shoot inside a nightclub (with lasers...).

I've seen similar pixel problems on the old Sony 700s. If I remember correctly they were a sensor issue/problem.
