What pinouts we have available are in the Operations Guide. If they are not there, we do not give them out. Note in Stuart's post it is because the LCD, EVF, and eSATA (ie, RED-DRIVE, RED-RAM) use custom cable that is not off-the-shelf. We caution anyone that is making their own cables for LCD, EVF, or eSATA could result in damage to their RED ONE, EVF, RED drives, or LCD that would not be covered under warranty.

    KinoBairn,
It was power cables and remote start cables. Not EVF/LCD.
I'm sure Red would make them if the demand were moderately high.

    This is problematic.

I really need a 12-15 ft. EVF cable. Red does not make them, and will not tell anyone else how to make them.

    What's up with that?

Jim: I feel your pain but I think it is because the DVI type signal combined with tight proximity of LEMO connectors makes it pretty fussy. You probably will need to go to an HD-SDI or HDMI monitor for your application.

I too need a 12-15' LCD cable, and would like a 4-6" drive cable (preferably without the "chunky monkey" in the middle). Since the cables are reversible it seemed to me that any quality lemo cable maker could do them by making sure the lemos where attached pin to pin (1:1, 2:2, etc) but clearly I don't know the finer details as Brent eludes to as Aqua mentions.

What about buying Red cables, cutting them at the chunky monkey and adding or reducing cable length (carefully getting the same size, AWG, make cable) and splicing - of course double checking continuity etc? Would that alleviate any of the pinout issues and Lemo/DVI close proximity issues?

I'm talking way out my smokestack here- just asking...and no, I won't do it until someone in the know tries or condones it.

Based on customer demand, we have made 6' DRIVE CABLES. They are in the online RED Store.

As far as "beyond 10 ft" LCD and EVF CABLES, the issue is the cable itself, not the pin configuration. It is a custom cable made for RED for RED cables. The reason we don't offer the pin out is because it would encourage people to make their own cables - and that would not be very customer-friendly if the cables they made had a good chance of not working, or even damaging RED gear.

And since I know the next question will be "Do you offer the custom RED raw cable?", we do not. We only have finished cables here (connectors and all). We do not have any raw cable.

As Stuart mentioned, if we see enough demand for other cable lengths, we will have to make prototypes and test them - just like we did with the 6' DRIVE CABLES. And there is certainly no guarantee that lengths above 10' will be possible for EVF and LCD.

I hope that explains it. We are not holding out on you, I promise :)

OK Maybe there's another solution. What i need to do is change shutter speed remotely. Can that be done through the utility ports?

I am developing a wing mount for my Red, and need to cycle shutter speeds to counter vibration artifacts.

Thanks Brent, I hadn't been to the store lately and was unaware of the longer cables available, my bad. Would still love the ability for customized cables, short and long, and 90 degree lemo's out the back... a little less cable tangle. Hopefully the lemo ports with Epic, Scarlett, and beyond will be oriented more friendly for 90 degree connectors. But thanks for the increase in cable options.

I sure could use another option for the EVF cable. The right angle connection is continually in my way for either the FFocus or sometimes even the mattebox.
