  1. #1 Experience with new audio board?
How is the audio quality with the new audio boards? Is phantom power working properly? If someone can post a sample I'd appreciate it.

    Yes. It is great.
The Phantom and everything I have experienced as the RED "Test Unit" of the new audio board leads me to say that the board lets me leave excuses out of the audio discussion. It is everything you want.
What kind of sample would you like? I will do it.

Totally agree. We took delivery of our third camera with the new audio board in it.... and the results are spectacular! We recorded four channels using 48V phantom power mics, on battery, just to test the system under worst case conditions. It didn't drop a beat, with pristine audio and no noise or hiss to speak of.

Well done Red team, the audio is FIXED!! Looking forward to the upgrade program for our other two cameras now.....

    :)

I would love to hear Jannard announce with a clear, steady voice "The IMS no longer voids the warranty." ;)

No, seriously, any standard interview situation would do. And one studio recording, with a controlled environment, a voice-test or the likes.

    Thanks a lot.

Exciting times, indeed. Powered by RED. (Hey, I like that tagline...)

Thank you very much. Anything is helpful. I'd love to know what it sounds like to just throw any phantom powered mic on there and record someone talking from 5 feet away.

When is this happening? I thought it was late Sep. No word yet and I'm number 27.

Are the line level inputs adjustable now? Every sound recordist I have showed the camera to was amazed that you couldn't do it.

He's referring to cam owners who took recent delivery with the new audio boards, not to those of us who have them already. They haven't initiated the replacement program quite yet, I don't think. I think Jarred or Brent said it starts next week....

How long is it going to take to replace all the existing RED audio boards? Is this info already up somewhere?
