Unfortunately that's what Brexiters like to think but when leaving the European market, you're also leaving the freedom of goods' exchange. Even if taxes don't apply, there will be customs and controls, like it or not. And that means hassle and issues, so hidden costs, for European customers who will always prefer to buy from another European country where these problems don't exist. Europe will never let the UK make social dumping and bad competition, which was the UK first aim but will be their nightmare. It's about time Red settles a good and proper European Center for all European customers if they want their money and support. Or it will be another win for Arri, again.

As John said. Just that the non VAT registered will pay the local VAT upon import. The registered VAT companies will also pay the VAT on import but deduct it from their incoming-outgoing VAT... same as if they buy a gear in their own country they still pay vat but its dedcuted at the end of the month or 3months...

The VAT is more or less clear, the problem will be the tariffs and paying the import manager who normally charges a percentage of the value for the paperwork and bureaucracy, and precisely the RED products are not cheap ...

We will see what happens in a few months ... it is possible that the agreements regarding tariffs and others between the UK and the EU will be clarified?

The trade deal that now exists between UK and EU is zero tariff, zero quotas. So really nothing has changed in that respect either, from the perspective of an EU customer of a UK company.

It very much begs the question, what was it all for? But the surrounding social political stuff is a whole other, much darker conversation. This simple economic aspect is, fortunately for all of us, not unlike the status quo.

Perfect then! I had heard something that it was duty free up to a certain invoice amount ...
I hope and wish that you are right and that nothing really changes.

NO, it's a mistake to say that nothing will change. Of course things will change : all the goods will have to go through customs even if there are no taxes. It's a lot of paperwork and all the European people who had to send their Red gear for repair through customs know the nightmare. I was one of them when Red UK didn't exist. And a few days ago I had to cancel some items bought in the UK on hold at the border. It was easier for me to buy to same goods again from Germany.

In Sweden, you will have to fill out a custom form, pay VAT and any other duties that are applicable, before receiving the incoming goods.

The process is more time consuming, complicated and costly.

You can't go around customs. It still creates a lot of hassle for the handling of equipment between EU customers and Red UK. And if goods over $300 don't get to be handled like before Brexit, it means almost every product Red has in store.

Red needs a Berlin office. It's irrelevant how stupid Brexit is, it happened and Red should make it clear to us EU customers what will happen now. A reopening of the Berlin office is in my opinion the most rational solution, so I would urge Red to think about doing so.
