  1. #1 Lenses and resolution of 8k, 12k and beyond. Is there a limitation? 
    Now that 12k is a thing with the URSA 12k are there lenses that can even resolve at that level. What lenses can handle beyond 8K and now 12K?

    The marketing is all about you can punch insane amounts of detail and all. But what confuses me is I can not find lenses that are know to be able resolve much past 8k resolution. Also with higher pixel density lens diffraction comes at much lower T stop.

    So what does this mean for cinema cameras and the photo world as well with more resolution and megapixels if lenses are not even there yet? Also can they even reach that and beyond?

    In the narrative world a lot of diffusion filters are used to soften the image and make it more pleasing. I always use a ⅛ and 1/4 black pro mist or a bronze glimmer glass on my Gemini 5k and Sigma Cine lenses. So what about when lenses do catch up to 12K? Just slap thicker diffusion filters to soften them back down to a pleasing look and wasting a lot of data space?

    And here is this recent article about the human eye won't notice a difference beyond 4k until we reach 20k range. https://www.newsshooter.com/2020/11/...th-resolution/ Which confused me because I have read many studies about the human eye really can not see past 6k resolution in a small focused area like squirting at your thumb and other studies that people can barely see a difference between 2.5k and 4k especially when sitting back to watch a moving image.

    I am not opposed to capturing in 5-8K range because it's extremely useful for post production to create the best 4K images. I am bringing up the question of whether there is a ceiling for lenses and resolution and a point where it just becomes wasted data space and marketing bs.

    You might want to check this https://www.lensrentals.com/blog/201...f-experiments/, it's more about lp/mm than resolution, the ARRI ALEXA 65 sensor size has a reason, how well lenses can be made and diffraction among others.
