  1. #1 Which SDI cable for Komodo?
    Hi,

sorry for the dummy question...received my Komodo yesterday, I wanted to use my Atomos V with SDI module, but don't get a signal, is the SDI cable to slow/cheap?
    I got this one: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B07...pd_rd_wg=qlSng
    ..pretty cheap..?

Tried various settings both on Atomos & Komodo SDI output settings, could not find a proper "tutorial" or info's which would help me solving this problem..

    Thank you very much!

well I'll describe my problem a little bit more in detail hoping to get an answer...

I am trying to use my Komodo with the Ninja V with the SDI module adapter...I've read in the internet it should work...bought a 10$ sdi cable which says it supports 4k@60hz so I thought that would be enough...?
Is there anything else I need to look for when using sdi cable with the Komodo?

Is there anything else which could cause the problem?

Every help is appreciated! Thank you very much!

PS: this is my first video with the Komodo if you want to take a look: https://youtu.be/YDurYjSj7Wg

Hello Roman-- I don't see a problem with the cable itself, if it's rated for 4k/60.

-To start, I'd try testing the cable on another set-up to see if it works with other devices. It is possible that you got a defective cable.
-Have you confirmed that the Atomos itself works? I'd test it with another SDI source (such as camera or output from a computer via an SDI/BNC convertor from Blackmagic), if possible. If you don't have those available, at least make sure HDMI works-- you can even plug in a DVD player or similar.
-You've tried this, but in case not: have you tried outputting a lower resolution signal from the Komodo SDI port? If the cable works, but only performs to lower spec, then you should get an image on the Atomos that way.
-Are you able to test the SDI out from the Komodo with any other device? That may tell you whether there's an issue with the Komodo.

If you can't test each piece in these other ways, it will be hard to identify the problem.

I was going to buy the "Atomos AtomX SDI" to use my Ninja V on the Komodo, so any update on this issue will be very helpful. Thanks!

did u check the ninja v and SDI module?
the ninja v should be set to SDI in mode. also, the connection of the SDI module and the monitor is fragile, u can check if the connector look fine.

I'm using the Ninja V with Atom-X SDI module and a simple generic SDI cable without issue, if you need another data point.

Only downside is the Ninja V fan is louder than the Komodo!! Wish I could replace the Ninja V fan with something quieter....

    HTH!

    Cheers,

    Paul :)

I've been using lots and lots of cables so far, but if you are looking to start and care about 4K transmission.

Mainly in my kit are SmallHD and Canare 12G-SDI cables.

For 4K anything labelled 12G SDI should work.

Hi all, I'm waiting for my Komodo to reach these shores, Ireland! In preparation I have ordered the SmallHD monitor with Red camera control and cable. Perhaps a stupid question, but do I still need an SDI cable as well?

    Many thanks

Yes. The way it works is there's the SDI for the Monitor Feed and the Control Cable for the GUI interface. Usually new SmallHD monitors typically come with an SDI cable included, so check "what's in the box" for what you ordered.
