Wifi SD card for External Audio Recorder ? Good or bad idea ?

Hi.

I'm currently using a Zoom F8 as my field recorder and would like a little faster and smoother delivery of the files and thought about the idea of having a Wifi Enabled SD memory card in the unit instead ....

is that a good or bad idea ? anyone tried something similar ?

Those cards require software support in the recorder and nobody has supported those cards in a long time, as they are not sold anymore, apart from ancient surplus that nobody was going to buy when the cards were a "thing". More importantly, the cards were designed for 12MP-18MP point and shoot cameras and low-end DSLRs like the Digital Rebel series and not anything more advanced, so they are incapable of sustained wireless transfer speeds anywhere in the remote vicinity of what you are hoping for, as their WiFi hardware is ancient and weak. At this point, I don't even think there are any compatible versions of the file transfer software for those cards that work on today's computers. The only solution for your recorder is to get the highest-performing SDXC cards available and pair them with a high-end USB-C dual-slot reader, so you can copy/transfer both cards at once, to an SSD. That is the only way you will be able to do fast file transfers.

Would *strongly* recommend that you don't risk this.

What is the big deal with how it is currently? The Zoom F8 has two SD card slots. Audio files are small and quick to transfer. Why do anything else??
