Like you, I've never liked the superwide distorted look of the GoPro. It would be great to have a longer lens available.

Its not really about capturing wide images, it to allow for more image stabilisation.

Imagine this camera, with the built in stabilisation that is so crazy good, but capturing fat r3d´s instead. That would be the bomb.

I lost not one but two Hero8´s while kiting this summer. Now I wish I did not get my third one and waited for this instead. :)

I wonder how the DR is compared to Hero8. When having enough light I think the GoPro can deliver a pretty good image, sure it's all tack sharp etc but still they got some exceptional auto white balance and other things going. Here is my little summer holiday film I shot with a mix of monstro and those lost gopros mostly just to not get camera withdraw during my holiday :)

Yeah, maybe Red will have something like that which will only record in one flavor of Redcode raw. It will be slightly larger than this Hero 9 with a 18-55mm f4 built-in lens with a 3.0 inch touch screen. It will have limited image-stabilization, but with improved auto-focusing due to the their experience with it in the Komodo. Oh, and it will be $2400 ,called the Falcon6K.

Gopro autofocus is good enough. What they lack is a fat capture in terms of DR.
