Upating camera firmware, easiest practice to keep shortcuts and other settings?

How do you upgrade the camera firmware and keep all your existing shortcuts and settings in the camera?

To late i done the upgrade. Had to put in the settings manual. How many different manual blackshades do you do? Not sure what is recomended and from wich shutterspeeds. To my memory its more important if you want to do slower shutterspeeds. Is 1/50 calibration good for up to 1/500 shutter or how far would you go before switching blackshade? Can the camera do it by itself (should be easy to get the nearest blackshade to the settings being used?
