I have one here and it's alarmingly good for the price. Should have some footage to share shortly. I'm working with Monstro and this and it does insanely cover the entire sensor if you want a rather wide aspect ratio.

it is not really difficult to make FF 85mm anamorphic lens. Most if not all vintage cine 85mm anamorphics cover full frame

    Wider than a 55, though? 55 1.8x isn't that wide... 40 would be great.

    Hey Phil,

If you don't mind sharing, what are your recommendations for using 1.8x ana on a RED since there isn't an in camera desqueeze for that ratio? Any recommendations for doing the desqueeze in post?

Anamorphic modes are nice in camera, but general I haven't used any of the stock anamorphic stuff for my work. This mainly has to do with me choosing to desqueeze, squash, and scale in post separately.

In which case, much like I'm doing with Komodo and previously even with film, I'm using an external monitor with custom anamorphic support.

4:3 is about what you'd be typically using for a 2.39:1 image, but just as an example, shooting a larger format might allow for more creative flexibility in post in frame extraction and such.
