    True.

Although for the Sony's specifically there are the Kolari OLPF swap outs which can make a substantial difference, so i think in that particular case it's the OLPF which is the main culprit - at least for the smearing you see. I think the micro lenses tend to affect colour issues more?

The Lecia M have around 0.8mm and the Leica SL is a bit thicker but Sony thicker still. Jono Slack does a good side by side of all 3 of them.

    Cheers

Seems slightly 'too little, too late' to me. 12mp isn't good enough for professional stills (whereas the R5 is 45mp), and 4k max seems slightly meagre compared to 6k~8k downscale. I like the focus on low-light (and being so good at it that you can actually shoot 60~120p at night) and hardly any rolling shutter, but 5 years?? How long has the S1H been available? Also, $3500?

If Panny did a price drop to the S1H and with the R5 eating up primarily stills shooters, it puts this camera in a "it'd be nice to have, but $3500?" spot. Or am I missing something?

One things for sure, when Sony says 15+ DR, I'm inclined they actually mean it. Even the ~$500 a6300 has soooo much recoverable latitude... Not much colour information, mind you, but the detail is there in the "blown/crushed" portions of the image.

The Atomos Ninja V will be able to take the 16-bit linear raw and record it as a 12-bit log raw file. Up to at least 4K 60fps:

Looks "plastic" next to a RED.

How can these even be serious?

Why does every sensor look "plastic?"

    improper frame rate? 30p?

    Bit depth/ DR?

*referring to the CInema5d + Phillip Bloom videos.

Clearly the Sony video looks good HFR.

Because it's always hilarious to see who breaks the rules. Equally interesting to see fully sponsored shooters getting cameras X, Y, or Z during this time frame and then releasing somewhat anti-marketing against other brands they just developed a somewhat new relationship with. But that's just a personal take. Seems nearly impossible today to keep a camera under wraps outside of trickle leaks from "sources". Honestly don't think it matters much for Sony or Canon however.

I'll post some realistic thoughts in just a minute if you're looking for that. Just need to crack out some work real quick.

BMD does it and does it well. No unnecessary teasing, no leaks, not a single peep about any of their cameras. Any rumors about their cameras you can count on being completely wrong. Only a handful of people have inside info outside of BMD itself.

Companies need to choose better beta testers, bloggers/vloggers are not those people.

Seriously. Especially people who go round and round LaForet, Bloom, this week it’s Red, this week it’s Canons the best.... etc.

At least Phil seems to be primarily RED.
