I would take this over an FX9 any day of the week. How does it compare to a C500 Mark II is a legitimate question in my world.

I think the feature set including onboard downsampling to 6k, 4K and 2k, and variety of anamorphic modes makes it very compelling.

Yea...camera looks great! Having shot on the Kine line...the cams produce a great image for the price. Interesting times for sure.

It's pixel binning to 6k as I understand, not downsampling. Or is the binning only for FF 6k Raw?

Don't see why this isn't a full readout and downsampling to target resolution. And the max fps for those modes, including the 2K are the same limits as the full 8K mode.

I've been reading it as full 8K capture, but stored at various smaller end resolutions.

This sounds cool but the one thing that makes me mad about RED cameras is that Kinefinity offers media enclosures so that users can use third party media if they want rather than stick with the Kinefinity media options. If they can do that for an 8K digital cinema camera then RED could have done that all along too. If the drives are good enough, RED should just make and sell enclosures and make a final firmware update before DSMC3 takes over to support third-party drives and not lock things in like the RED One. Heck, if they could do it, they should just make a new M.2 side module for the RED One too!

Other than that, I’m eager to see what else gets announced as the affordable 8K game is officially on!

    Look at 3'14''

He says in the same sentence over sampling and pixel binning wich are exactly the contrary though... I think, downsapling RAW isn't possible either you read all the pixels or you skip them.

Starts at about the 12:35 minute mark after almost 12 plus minutes of advertisements for other things!

Kinefinity is the new disruptive player. I'm impressed with those features.

If the dynamic range and colour science on this thing holds up and reliability is good, then it'll be a beast. Adding some kind of autofocus would have made it game over for me.
