that's like saying this is a Warner bros spec film, never talked to anyone there but it's perfect for warner brothers!
i think just call it a "independent film" and move on and make it.
i dont know you, i dont know what you have done before and i dont care, just go do your thing and hopefully it works out.
just know, there is no back end, so better to pay everyone a flat fee for being there.
the company and producers from the sharknado franchise hired me in 1998 to shoot a film, on film, i was a music video Dp at the time, a pretty highend one, but wanted to do a movie so i said yes, and got my crew to work on it with me for a couple of weeks mainly because they were loyal to me, but production paid everyone the same, even me, $100 a day. it was like. socialist regime but it worked, they made their film. the only hesitance i would have coming in, if i was a beginning crew member, is that you are producing, directing, dp and acting in it? and cooking??? i dont even know how that is possible, but if you think it is, then i wouldnt even post on reduser, just put your little team together and go out and shoot it. then come back with something special.
I called that because that is what it is Jordan,
An unsolicited spec film for Netflix, to get my foot in with them to sign a multi project deal. Not WB or any one else, Netflix, this is why it is a spec film for Netflix.

Well, you don't know that there will be no backend, and I sure being as positive as I am, I hope that there will be, but I get you, and you are right, can't promise something you don't have for sure, but I am promising it as an extra, I already edit it and will pay flat $100 per day, and won't start shooting till I have the entire amount to go for it.

Yeah I know that is a lot of work, but I have already done half dozen different short Videos/films where I did everything myself, and I mean everything, just so I could test what I could do and how far I could get, and if no other choice is there, than I will make this film in such a way.

As for cooking, we all must stop to eat, and for me cooking is no problem at all, dishing out food for 10 people will take me no more then 1 hour ;)

I posted here because Reduser has always been my home away from home, and a place where I helped and got help trough out the years, and since this is an important project to me, I also posted here, but not just here.

If I get any response and some one to help make this great, if not then just the same, I will proceed either way, but I need to try to get some help just the same.

ok, im just saying, Ive worked for Netflix for about 5 years, probably ten shows and they are very tight now and unless it's an outrageous doc they can get cheap (they buy them for about $50k, which barely covers the cost the strict finishing they require you to do before delivery, meaning NO backend) or your film has to have either 1; a very big sales agent they have made many deals with in the past(and those sales reps only work with veteran film makers with a proven record. 2; it's something that has got exceptional buzz from the top 5 film festivals, had to be in sundance, tribecca, TIFF etc, or 3: has a celebrity staring in it that is willing to not make any money from it. I dont want to burst any bubbles, but Netflix is now the hardest to infiltrate unless you have one of those 3 things. take this from experience and knowing the sales department intimately. I know a lot of successful film makers with fantastic movies they made for under a million. one of my good friends have been doing the film festival circuit for a year now with a juno temple simon pegg film, very big sales reps, the movie has got into all the big festivals and done well, i think they might be on their 20th festival, still netflix didnt buy it. they are now going to itunes for distribution, and they have an independent investor that will get it to the 2 weeks of box office it needs to compete in awards. my point is netflix is really a pipe dream unless you have all those things, plus you have luck on your side. the few things that ive been involved in that were independently made and netflix did buy it, the payment was very very low and barely paid for the delivery and rights to music. so no one made any money. nothing. this is JUST my experience and my suggestions is loose the netflix out of the description. it's a 1 out of 10000 that anyone from netflix will even look at something unsolicited....unless it's a batshit crazy doc with internet buzz, that's their liberal sweet spot. but again, you might be able to get it on the air, but it wont make you any money. just go out and make your film. i understand you think reduser is your home away from home, but by the way i see you treated on here, id personally also find another place to live, and just visit occasionally. fuck'em. go do it, but do it for yourself, not for netflix.

I can only vouch for Ketch having met him in person, he exceeded generosity and expectation. Really. Don't know about the online world of Reduser, but in real life he went beyond what others would do.

I hear you loud and clear Jordan!

Thanks for sharing your opinion, points and advice!

Yeah I know it won't be easy, but I also am confident that my complete screenplays body of work with five features and a series, will serve me well in a dealing with Netflix.

At the same time I am aware of how difficult it will be, especially for me as a first time filmmaker, and not having a connection with Netflix via a Producer that has already worked with them.

You are also absolutely right about Reduser, I refuse to see it, but it is what it is, and if continues this way I will leave this place all together, as I can only take so much insulting and bashing. :(

But yes, I am doing it for myself first and foremost, I no longer can linger or delay the making of a feature.

Thanks for the kind words Andrew!

You and many like you is the reason why I am still here on Reduser, I would have long ago followed Jordan's suggestion to leave this place because of how I am often treaded by some in here that makes it very hard to continue to come here even so I have loved this community since its very conception and made it my home away from home.

I guess I should truly take a harder look at this and realize that you are simply stating the obvious, and that I am no longer welcome here, and it is indeed time to just say good bye for good to this community that I did called home for all of this years.

At the end of the day it is really tiring and aggravating to my own health to have to deal with continues attacks and humiliations for something I did seven years ago, something I did in good fate as an artist trying things out and not afraid to share.

For some here it seems that no one can make mistakes, no one can fail and have the right to move on, learn and come back to try again.

So yeah, this might well be my last post here, and I guess I should just edit/delete this too :(

EDITED main post, thanks any ways, enough is enough.

check out facebooks "video village" group, at least with fb you can block and delete demeaning people. then there is a few red groups as well, make your self a home that you can be the king of your domain and send people to the guillotine if you have to (by blocking them) best of luck, keep doing what you love.
