For sale is a rare 35mm T2.3 LOMO / Cooke hybrid Square Front anamorphic lens - PL Mount. The original LOMO 35mm spherical lens has been swapped out for a 35mm Cooke Speed Panchro. The lens has about the same character as a LOMO/LOMO, with a slight difference in sharpness. When compared to a 100% LOMO 35mm Square Front, the LOMO/Cooke is a tiny bit sharper on center, and the LOMO/Cooke performs better toward the edges of frame. It still falls off like most wide angle anamorphics, but not as dramatically. The lens still has the same big, beautiful lens flares that LOMO Square Fronts are known for. This lens loves to flare!

The lens was just completely overhauled by Optitek. So it's ready to shoot. We added a metal RAF Camera 134mm front adapter, so the lens works perfectly with any clip-on matte box, and 134mm is a standard size for accessories. Focus and iris ring have gears. Lens has been converted to PL mount.

I have shot with a lot of Square Fronts, and everyone knows they are not mechanically perfect. It'd say this is one of the better ones I have used.

    OPTICAL CONDITION
Lens has original coatings. The front element has some cleaning marks and light scratches like any LOMO Square Front. There is some internal contamination, typical of all vintage lenses. Image is sharp. Rear coating is very nice, with just a couple very light cleaning marks.

    MECHANICAL CONDITION
Lens was recently overhauled by Optitek. Iris turns with minimal effort. Focus turns smoothly.

    COSMETIC CONDITION
Take a look at the photos. A lot of the original paint has worn off over the years. We decided to put money into the mechanics and functionality of the lens, but not the cosmetics. The engravings are easy to see.

This is a VERY rare lens, and it's one of the smallest lightest wide angle anamorphic lenses out there.

Was asking $16,500, but decided to put it on eBay with a low starting price and just lt the market decide. Happy bidding!

Here's a trailer for a feature that was shot on the complete set of LOMO/Cooke hybrids (this exact 35mm as well as a 50, 75, 100). I'm not sure if I'm going to have time to shoot a test before they are sold. Already getting offers.
