Just formatted then shot on a rented 480gb mini mag (RED).

    Shot a couple hundred GB.

Put drive in G drive reader Mac Pro trash can.

    Edited something up.

Put mag back in camera, camera says 0% and "Mag Full."

    WTF?

    Really?

Sounds like you edited off the mag and likely created temp files on the mag itself?

OSX still says mag has 230+ GB free.... unless you are saying those tmp files mess up the mag in cam...

Writing anything to the mag from an external source will cause fragmentation, possible errors, and other bad things.

i.e. never write to the mag other than doing quick metadata related things. Pretty common among other higher end cameras too.

Thanks for the responses Phil, but I didn't write anything to the mag as seen in pics. Seems very not like I remember it for an error this big.

It's hard for me to know exactly what transpired here, but it appears something did based on the "date modified" stamp. I'd check for hidden files or something.

Tips in general. Only format the mag in camera, don't write anything to the card outside of metadata adjustments, or copying over looks or LUTs.

it's probably the OSX thrash folder / garbage bin that used your mag to store deleted files.
